Background

What made me decide to change careers??

I decided to enroll in an intensive full stack web development bootcamp at Vanderbilt University while still working full time as a teacher. I really enjoy creating something, seeing a final product, and dissecting data structures. There were a lot of times that I cried and questioned if I would make it through the program.

Since graduation, I have worked full time while job searching, keeping my skills sharp and learning new technologies. I have begun learning about digital marketing, seo, user journeys, and new programming languages. I am currently working as an apprentice for a digital marketing firm where I have gotten the opportunity to design Voice user interfaces for Alexa Skills and Google Action as well as redesign websites to improve SEO and user experiences.

I really do not see the technology industry as very different from the education industry. Both require agility, flexibility, and excellent communication. Computers understand binary language as an information system. Education is also a means of delivering information.

This is a website that I redesigned for a client. I helped codify a brand theme and color scheme for the site. I uploaded her business customers and other features on the backend of the website.

The IT Infrastructure Professional program with the Nashville Software School

The GO Tech training program is operated by Nashville Technology Council Foundation with funds provided by the GIVE grant from the state of Tennessee. The ITIP program comprises of foundational instructions in identifying and configuring computer hardware, networking basics, hardware and software troubleshooting as well as installing and supporting operating systems. The program also provides best practices for security, inventory controls, environmental management, safety and professionalism.
